Characteristics of different weaving methods of carbon fiber cloth (plain weave, twill weave, satin weave)

Characteristics of different weaving methods of carbon fiber cloth (plain weave, twill weave, satin weave)

1 plain weave cloth

The characteristic of plain weaving is that the warp yarn and the weft yarn are interlaced one by one. That is, the warp and weft yarns are interlaced every other yarn, so the number of interlacing points is the most, which makes the fabric firm, wear-resistant, stiff and smooth, but has less elasticity and average luster. The density of plain weave fabrics cannot be too high, lighter and more durable. Good abrasiveness, good air permeability, uniform cloth surface and the same front and back sides. Because the fiber bundle of this carbon fiber cloth is always in a state of up and down, there are more fiber bending points, and the elongation rate is higher during the stretching process. At the same time, eye holes appear due to the sliding of the fiber bundle due to the position of the interweaving point of two adjacent warp yarns and two adjacent weft yarns. There are also many variants of plain weaving, such as mixed knitting of 12K warp yarns and 1K weft yarns. Since the reflected light of the fiber bundles in the warp and weft directions is different, the plain weave fiber cloth can be observed in a grid-like appearance, similar to chess.

2Twill weave

Twill weave fiber cloth has a diagonal pattern that has a certain angle with the arrangement direction of the fiber bundle. There is no fiber bundle in this pattern direction, but due to the warp and weft knitting process of the fiber bundle, the warp or weft fiber bundle skips two Bundle weft or warp fibers for weaving. That is to say, the weaving frequency of the top and bottom of the fiber bundle decreases, the floating length of the fiber bundle increases, and at the same time two adjacent fiber bundles are staggered by a braiding position. This results in the diagonal grain characteristics of the twill weave fabric. This twill appearance has a strong three-dimensional effect and is used to make car modification products, such as panels, hoods, exhaust pipes, etc.

3 satin weave cloth

Satin weaving has separate, discontinuous warp weaving points (or weft weaving points) that are regularly and evenly distributed in the organization cycle. This type of weaving is called satin. It is characterized by longer warp (or weft) floating threads and fewer interweaving points. Although they form oblique lines, they are not continuous, and the distance between each other is regular and uniform. The structure of this fiber cloth is called satin weave. The warp and weft of the satin fiber cloth are interwoven at least once every three threads. Therefore, this weaving structure makes the fabric density higher and the fiber cloth is thicker. This kind of satin fiber cloth has a smooth and even surface, soft texture, shiny or slightly grained. The strength of this type of fiber cloth is lower than that of plain weave and twill weave.
